An Inspiring and True-to-Life Story of Success

Success Story of Shane Radbone

After graduating from RMIT University, Shane Radbone (7-Eleven COO) impressed the corporate world when he founded the highly successful Executive Fitness Management (EFM), a corporate fitness firm and the largest of its kind in Australia. Radbone was only nineteen when he started EFM and he began with just a single client. In less than ten years, he was able to expand the business into a thirty-branch chain and with over 4,000 clients.

For those who know Shane Radbone, Allied Brands is probably the first company name that comes to mind. It was during his tenure as CEO of the company, after all, that he became a highly visible public figure. Besides his work on Baskin and Robbins, Radbone also has additional experience working in the sweets industry when he was with Wendy’s for six years.

During that time, he was tasked to head the company’s sundae division and later on, he was elected to be the company’s CEO. Although the company was private and family-owned, these attributes did not deter him from giving his all-out effort to make the firm succeed. Eventually, Radbone got what he wanted, managing to almost double the company’s profits from $75M to $125M.

Seeking new challenges, Shane Radbone CEO, became the head of another company, this time the VIP Home Services. Although he was only with the company for a year, he was already able to offer high-quality service to over 180,000 households. This was then followed by a two-year stint with Allied Brands, where he became one of the famous faces for its ice cream line.

Wall Street

Wall Street is famous around the globe, from London to Japan. From Los Angeles to Buenos Aires. For some it is the center of the free world, a symbol of the western style of democracy and free-market economy. For others it is the center of oppression of the rich over the poor and a symbol of corporate greed and the dominance of the wealthy.

In recent news, there has been much controversy over what actually happens on Wall Street and should happen. There are tales of corruption, deceit and sometimes outright evil. Many questions arise from the news stories that we read newspapers and on the internet. There is much doubt about the future of our economy and the stories that we see on television and in the movies add a lot of depth to the picture. One of the questions that arises is "how much should we regulate Wall Street?" The obvious sides are taken by those who benefit from regulation and those who suffer from it. The poor, middle-class and struggling people of the United States are often those who criticize Wall Street and call for more regulation, with little exception. Also without fail, it seems that the rich and powerful are constantly calling for as little regulation as possible.

Of course the real truth, the best path probably lies somewhere in between. Or at least that it was common sense tells us. Is it possible that perhaps the mere existence of Wall Street should be abolished? Perhaps it is just another form of legalized gambling that in reality is playing with the lives and livelihoods of hundreds of thousands, if not millions of people?

The effects of what goes on in Wall Street have a global effect. Surely, if something is to change, it is going to require the efforts of people all around the world.
